Richard C L Pillinger is a building and conservation business built on an informal association of tradesmen covering the full spectrum of building trades that allows the service to cover every building need of their customers. Thus our clients do not have to pay for unproductive overheads that larger, more formal companies have to carry.
Aimed primarily at buildings that were built in Edwardian, Victorian and earlier periods, we most enjoy working on listed properties and those that have special conservation needs, and thoughtful maintenance considerations.
Covering projects from large refurbishment undertakings to small maintenance tasks, our business tries to uphold a very high customer relations ethic that will ensure you get the job that you want to the standard that you expect. Wherever possible we use reclaimed or sustainable materials, such as the use of sheep wool or hemp insulation rather than oil based foams, or reclaimed and re-cycled building materials.
Where necessary we will ensure that all our work meets Local Authority conservation standards, and we ensure an ongoing dialogue with Conservation and Building Regulation departments is maintained throughout the task.
All our work is undertaken with meticulous care and we pay special attention to using traditional methods of building in order to achieve results that not only look in keeping with the building that we are working upon, but that will endure to blend in with, not only the building itself, but also its surroundings.
The services we offer include:
Groundwork | Footings, patios, pathways, driveways. |
Brickwork | Using reclaimed or new bricks, specialist and standard brickwork, gauged brickwork, re-pointing. |
Roofing | With new or reclaimed tiles, from complete re-roofs to smaller repairs. |
Carpentry | Timber framing from oak; studwork, flooring, roofing and structural work, window repairs, custom made windows, custom made doors, garden structures. |
Lime Plastering | Internal and external lath and plaster, and cornicing. |
Electrical and Plumbing | All our work meets industry standards. |
Painting & Decorating | Internal and external work finished to a very high standard. |
Richard Pillinger has been working in the building industry, primarily on Listed house projects since 1998 and launched his own business some ten years ago, having gained a huge volume of knowledge under expert tutelage, and started a Masters Degree in Building Conservation in 2008.
Whilst Richard is very conscious that all important buildings must be maintained to a standard that reflects their history, he is also very aware that these historic structures are also often homes. Richard will always work with the Conservation Authorities to help ensure that the evolution and working development of these buildings does not suddenly stop today, turning them into museums, but continues to develop and reflect the changes of modern living whilst ensuring that our heritage endures for future generations.
